As a behaviorist I am often asked how to eliminate aggression once it has surfaced. My advice is always to first rule out a medical cause and then seek out the advice of a knowledgeable behaviorist. Seeking the help of a trainer without the knowledge or experience in behavior modification can be very dangerous and prolong the treatment process.
Dog aggression is a complex behavioral issue and just as people have different learning styles so does your dog. Aggression can be caused by a genetic, environmental, or psychological cause and can appear at any time. In most cases if left untreated aggression will normally escalate without professional help. At One on One Pet Services we always offer complimentary consultations and if we are unable to help one of our pet professionals can offer recommendations and/or referrals.
